Welcome to Dumas!
(Home of the Bobcats)
Be a part of the opening of Southeast Arkansas. With the coming of I-69 and the Great River Road Bridge, we are expecting great things in Dumas. In its earliest year, Dumas was a major cotton- producing region and farmers still grow a considerable amount of that crop. Other major crops include rice, soybeans, wheat, corn, and sorghum.
With the one-cent hamburger tax, the community was able to build a Community center that is a one of a kind in this area of the state. In 1997, the city passed a tax to build a new City Hall.
We are 11 miles from the Arkansas River and enjoy its many recreational activities that include some of the major bass tournaments. A trip to Dumas puts you in the midst of Arkansas's great outdoors: tall pines, bottomland hardwoods, cypress sloughs includes terrific hunting and fishing opportunities as well.
The Dumas School District is composed of four campuses of which all are North Central accredited. We are 19 miles away from the Great River Vocational Technical School and 35 miles from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
*Schedule your visit to our city during the last weekend of July and be in for a fun weekend during the DING DONG DADDY DAYS FESTIVAL.
