Dumas Clarion

Clarion Publishing Company, located at 136 East Waterman in Dumas, is part of Emmerich Newspapers, a group of weekly and daily newspapers in Mississippi, Louisiana and Arkansas.
Emmerich acquired the Clarion from Melvin Schexnayder and former State Representative Charlotte Schhexnayder in April of 1998 after they had owned and operated it since 1948.
Wyatt Emmerich, publisher of The Northside Sun in Jackson, Mississippi., is president of the company.
Terry G. Hawkins is Clarion publisher and managing editor, Agnes Ross is news and features editor, Kristina Poole is office manager and bookkeeper, Tammy Rice is advertising manager, Jerry Kozubksi is shop foreman and printing manager, Deb Conrad is compositor, Ole Mae Tillman is typesetter and works in circulation, and Joyce M. Russell is circulation manager and also works in the front office.
The Clarion is one of the few weekly newspaper in Southeast Arkansas with its own web press, and also operates a job printing shop with offset printing presses.
In addition to publishing The Dumas Clarion on Wednesday and The Delta Advertiser on Monday, Clarion Publishing offers a full line of office, business and school supplies. There is currently a website under construction . The newspapers two e-mail addresses are thawkins@seark.net .
In addition to the weekly publications, Clarion Publishing prints the Dumas High School Bobcats Era, Star City High School Bulldog Times, and prints special publications for the Dumas School District, Desha County Historical Society, Desha County Museum Society and Dumas Business Women, and other organizations.
